Looks like Asus has made a new GPL tarball firmware release with version 1.9.5 on 02/09/2005. No chance to test it yet, and no changelog. Interesting quote (they seem to be aware that they were on legally rather thin ice with their latest binary-only beta versions).

All future firmware updates will also be accompanied
with their respective source code on our web site

No, they aren't aware of.

It's the same Source tree like the one posted

at this
http://wl500g.info/showthread.php?t=3082
thread !!

And the Part you quoted is already been written a couple times when ASUS offered the Source before. Still the WL.O Module Binary only

I am trying to download the sources from Asus, but it goes so slow that my download times out.

Is there a mirror of the file somewhere?

Update wireless driver : it sounds interesting, performance improved ?

If you ask me; nothing is improved....at least not by my
opinion.
I've tried this version on wl500g and I'm still using this now,
but there's no revolution.
But it's stable till now, that's true.

It's _much_ stable. And this is great!

I don't know. But everything what I had to do works great. Connection betwen AP and adaptor never breaks.

Did anyone test the combination WPA2 and WDS (hybrid) with this new firmware?

I run 1.9.5 beta with no problems until now.

I use WPA to connect to an Centrino Laptop under XP and Linux Ubunutu Breeze without trouble.

For XP I had to use the latest Intel drivers, the drivers
provided by Asus for my M2400N Laptop don't work stable with WPA and
also don't wake up from powersave mode.

My ASUS WL-100g card does not work stable on XP with WPA,
I get a connection but not IP Number assigned by dhcp.

So I have two ASUS wlan products not working with ASUS drivers together
with the asus wl 500g using WPA. This is independent from wl500g firmware version.

I'm happy I found a solution and that 1.9.5 beta works pretty good for me.

Regards,

Chris

It does work. I'm running 1.9.5.0, 2 x asus wl500g, WDS bridge with WPA-PSK, TKIP.

It has always worked in 1.8.1.3 and 1.9.4.0 also.

Have now been running 1.9.5.0 beta for 5 days. Not a single reboot.
Rock stable so far!

The best FW I have used which supports WDS-bridge with WPA. (Although Oleg's 1.9.2.7 CRx might be better..... haven't tested that yet, since it does not support WDS-WPA).
