First of all best Regards to everybody here!
As you can see I'm new here, but I'm some kind of viritual member since
"Chupa" was created, perhaps because of I have no problems with my
devices.....till now.... :rolleyes:

So get to the point: We all know, that Radio power command in wl500g is
just a makeup, :mad: because the output power is 19mW and it doesn't matter
what is your setting in firmware and that is aprox. 12-13dB.
We all know also for the "wl atten 0 0 80" command which is able to boost
aprox. 19dB output, but till next reboot..... :confused:

So this is my question and big wish for Oleg: Is it possible to create a firmware
with 60-80mW constant power, doesn't matter which one since 1.8.2.4 BETA,
everyone works good for me. :)
...or let me ask different way; is it possible to make radio command really
functional???

And why I'm asking that...I'm using my first device as home gateway in hybrid
mode to second device which is AP. Both of them have 8dB D-link ommi outdoor antennas and VDS is rock stable in the winter, but there is some
big green problem (tree) between those two in the summer. This tree is not
mine of course :mad: If would be mine there won't be a problem anymore :D

So I don't think to spent some more money for some new superrior antennas, I just need some few Mw more :rolleyes:

The output power is limited by regulation domain settings. You could change them (don't know if this legal in your locality) by typing these lines


nvram set regulation_domain=0x00ALL
nvram commit

Then reboot and it should really change power output.

Sorry for saying that but "no go"!
I did as you say but nothing happened, at least not for me. :mad:

I hit:

nvram get regulation_domain
and I get:

0x00ALL
So this is fine, but absolutely nothing happend in the output power.
Everything above 19mW is the same.
As I read in THIS (http://wl500g.info/showthread.php?t=1633) post is
very clear that things are not so simple as they looks alike!

Any ideas more?
Maybe some firmware as it is for 300g? :confused:

Can you explain me in a language of idiots what is this.

The only thing I know is that I have constant -83dB of signal strength,
only the "wl atten 0 0 80" command is able to push it to -77dB in a distance
of 120m visual line!

What about 84mW firmware for wl500g.......? :p

I've no more ideas. That's it. Also, "wl atten 0 0 80" gives you 84mW boost anyway - you've increased output power level by 6dB:

19mW is 12.787536 dB
84mW is 19.242793 dB
