Slow Transfer Speeds off WL500GX

I'm constantly getting only 1.2MB/s or 2MB/s off of a USB 2 drive via samba. I've tested the drive, and it's performing at USB 2 speeds in a USB2 machine. I thought that the WL500GX had USB2 ports. Is it possible for the wl500gx to transfer at usb2 speeds? If so, what am I doing wrong to make it so limited?

The CPU is too slow to give you more. It's router, not the NAS device.
