Hi Guys,

I bought the wl500g unit a few days ago... I got it all set up and all, updated to Oleg's latest firmware 1.9.2.7 cr 6 I believe it's called...
However, after updating to this firmware the printer setup vanished from the usb devices menu and I can't seem to find it anywhere... when I plug my printer the router does see it as active and connected however i can't print.

I follow the lpr printing setup guid for lpr printing and it just doesn't work.
I tried to connect the printer via usb. should I try lpt?

My printer is xerox phaser 3130

Anything I'm missing here?

All help will be more then appriciated!

Max.

Did you follow Olegs guide on printing ?

http://oleg.wl500g.info/printing/

Explains it step4step.

There is no special printer setup page in ANY firmware version. The only traces for printer are Status page and Internet firewall basic config.

I used Olegs guide and it didn't work.
The router does identify the printer but it just doesn't print.

An interesting note on this is that the router doesn't respond to telnet on port 9100 and 9101 from inside the network so i'm wondering how is it supposed to print?

Here's what the router log says about the printer:

Ideas?

Max.

P.S.
A country timezone which is missing in the router is Israel :)

Hi again!

Now I got Oleg and working USB ports.
So I'm going to buy cheap printer. I'm thinking about this two:

Xerox Phaser 3117. Printer has been reported as WORKING on Asus500gDeluxe by tonych (http://www.wl500g.info/showthread.php?p=29689&highlight=3117#post29689) and by St3f (http://www.wl500g.info/showthread.php?p=28956&highlight=3117#post28956)
So I assume it will work on Asus500gP too? Please confirm. :)

Second is Samsung 2010R. Printer has build-in processor (150MHz) and 8MB RAM. I wonder if it will work with WL500gP and Oleg firmware?

Thanks in advance.

I can recommend you also Lexmark E120.
Is cheap enough and IS WORKING very fine on WL500gP.

Theoretically, every USB printer should work with the RAW option, since the data is just pushed through the router.
It works for my Canon Laserbase MF3110 multifunctional, which has no Linux support whatsoever (printer part only - not scanner).
This is one BIG difference between Olegs and the stock firmware in my opinion.

Well, I can confirm that xerox 3117 works fine through wl500gP using Oleg's fw raw 9100-port printing (default way of printing in Oleg's fws).

Theoretically, every USB printer should work with the RAW option
Unfortunately, it is not completely true statement, as some (luckily minority) of USB printers require to have some firmware to be uploaded before printing. Some HPs (probably, 1018 and 1020) require it.

P.S. actually xerox 3117 is manufactured by samsung (its equivivalent is samsung 1610 or 1615).
