Couple of questions that I hope someone knowledgeable can help with.

I have just purchased a WL-500G (not the Deluxe) to use as a test mule on a new firmware project.

1. Does the chipset support more than one USB port and is there anyway that we can access the USB connections from the motherboard as I need to mount the USB device inside the case - otherwise a bunch of thieving b....s will steal it :)

2. What is the unused connector for down the side of the motherboard - it corresponds to an unused plastic flap on the side of the case.

3. Does anyone have a hardware circuit diagram for the board?

Thanks all - we will soon be out of 'stealth mode' and be able to tell you more about our project :)

Hi

Maby you should have went for the deluxe version....

I dont remember having ever seen anything about extra USB in the non-deluxe version, but the deluxe version certainly does offer the possibility to add an extra USB port, and even inside the case...see here :

Also Deluxe will give you USB2.0 instead of old slow 1.1

We looked at the Deluxe however it was more expensive and didn't have the LPT port which we are using to control external relays etc

I found the mods to access the USB port on the Deluxe and that's why I wondered if something similar was possible with the 500G.

Am I right in thinking that the 'spare' connector is a serial port header?

Thanks

OK, I see that it's not going to serve any useful purpose - adding the UART cicuitry is beyond the scope of what we want to do 'mechanically'. We will probably just go for a redesigned case to mount the motherboard into so that we can keep the USB device secure - we need to ensure that the LAN ports are not usable anyway and we need to add some sort of physical security lock as well.

Thanks all
