Multiple operating system emulation in ASUS WL-500G

I have to develop a Intrusion detection system in a router. For this purpose I have to emulate multiple operating systems to hackers, so i have to run multiple systems in a router virtually, so hacker can traped out to feel that each operating system is a seperate node in a network. Upto now I have found User mode linux for this purpose, but dont know this Asus router will support this or not.

Being serious now: This router only has 16 MB RAM (WL-500g) or 32 MB RAM (WL-500gx) which is sometimes hardly enough for standard stuff, like running an extra webserver.

Running multiple Linux instances seems unlikely to me. However, if I remember correctly there's been an article in a C'T magazine about a year ago about this topic. The topic was focused on virtualizing linux instances on gaming servers, but the same would apply here. Perhaps you can look it up.

Clearly, the limited RAM is a primary, constraint to using UML in a Router. Secondary constraints would be limited processing power, diffrent hardware architect.. Because of all these constraint I raised this question in a forum to know the alternate ways to perfome my task.

You could also rig an old system with multiple Linux instances and place that rig into a DMZ. Even an old PII with 128 MB RAM would suffice just fine for that job imho. For a howto on virualizing Linux I suggest you use Google. It has nothing to do with the WL-500g and therefore I guess there are no members here with experience with it.
