I removed the 4 rubber-feets and the 4 screws in it, but it is not really opening.. Or do you have to use some force/strength to open it?!
And I damaged the warranty seal.. For what the fuck is Asus announcing a SD-Slot on the platine, when you cannot access it...
Edit: Finaly have it open.. You have to do it with little brute force ;-)

the warranty seal is invalid here. you can void it without losing warranty, because our law says so:)
warranty is only void if clear damage by the user is visible to the actual hardware:)
many manufacturers try to work around it, and tell people warranty is void... but when you tell them you know that's in fact not true they'll easily accept:D
not sure how that's in other parts of Europe:)

I have 3 Asus WL500gP and they are running perfectly.. Well every charging unit is dead and replaced with a universal charger, but the router itself has nothing and they are running 24/7..
But the tomatousb optware is not really working so perfect (compared to oleg-firmware).
When I install the bash from optware, it is really slow, I get memory errors with VI and update-alternatives script is not really working..
And the configure script is not able to detect the host and build system.. (well sometimes it is able, but not often..)

actually they use both - their own (http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/wireless/ASUSWRT/Packages.gz, inaccessible at the moment) and oleg's feeds.

Today i tested two RT-N66U Rev 3.00 (mine and my friend) and i noticed a significant wireless signal difference between both devices, i placed both on the EXACT SAME place, same antenas position, firmware and configuration and with mine i can get 55-59 RSSI and with the other 59-63 RSSI, i tested several times and i got always the same difference. I noticed something else.
Someone on a dutch forum claimed that switching to US mode and putting the power up to 500mW would actually increase the output.
My measurements with my WiSpy showed otherwise for my router:

I'm using Shibby 097 right now and several others f/w for RT-N66U but never stock f/w
and never see any changes in the level of signal even do set "Transmit Power" from 0(default to hardware) to max 500/250...

The dafault settings for my router are

I changed it to "US" for all without any success.
I'm using the inSSIDer for control the lever of WiFi signals and always have almost plane line for both bands.
And doesn't matter 0...500 I fill in in "Transmission Power"
Only the position of router antennas dramaticaly change the level of signals (in the reseption place) !!!
Could you explain my situation and post your results of dependence level of signal and parameter in "Transmit Power".
P.S. I never see information that somebody changed the "Transmission Power" and had higher level of signal in air...

So I found out that my RT-N66U became quite hot in this summer. It reached 65 degrees:eek:
Thus I've build my cooling flat of routers:

If I can do anything to get the enthusiast-firmware faster, just tell me. For now I'll run shibbys tomatoUSB, which is good, but in some points about mounting not the optimum.
I opened the case, what was a bit difficult because of those damned plastic clips and installed a 8GB microSD. I can confirm that there were no green spiders inside :D what is great.

Interesting thing, i didn't knew that 6.x wireless drivers worked on RT-N66U i though they were used only on AC routers (RT-AC66U), but its curious that users report less wireless coverage with this new drivers, that should not happen... New drivers were supposed to work better.
