ext3 formatting

I have searched the forum but I was not able to find a conclusive answer - does the WL-HDD with the ASUS 1.2.3.4 firmware natively format as ext3 or ext2? If ext2 how do you format the HD with ext3? Just take it out of the WL-HDD and stick it in a laptop?

open the following page: http://wlhddadress/Main_AdmStatus_Content.asp. Enter "mount" in the edit box and press "refresh". You should see all mounted devices and also the filesystem...
