Bekijk de volledige versie : new wifi card doesn't work, please help!
Hello,
I have a wl500gp v1 and the original asus wl-120g mini pci wifi card has suffers from bad signal reception as a result of the know design error.
That's why a bought a replacement mini pci wifi card. It has a bcm4318kfbg chipset on it, the orignal asus card has a bcm4318ekfbg chipset.
Unfortunately the new card doesn't work. When I start the router it does boot, but there's no wifi signal.
Can anyone tell me how to get this card to work?
thanks!
you replaced the card in your laptop?
then just download and install the proper drivers I guess... or check if you can connect or see other wireless networks.
if you replaced something in your router...
I'd say send back the wifi card because it's probably not going to work:
1. you need to find the right wifi drivers for linux kernel 2.4.37.10 (mips architecture)
2. configure the firmware sources to accept the driver
3. build the firmware
4. test if it works
:p
No, I haven't replace my laptop wifi card, but the mini pci card that's in the wl500gp v1.
Maybe it needs a different nvram setting somewhere?
Today I found out that my netbook can actually see the router, but my pc with windows 7 can't see it. When the old wifi card is in my router my pc can see the router's wifi network.

nvram has nothing to do with it... you need drivers that are compatible with your card...
searched around a bit, and came to this post on the russian forum: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http://wl500g.info/showpost.php%3Fp%3D210239%26postcount%3D22%26langi d%3D3
so grab your oleg firmware from: http://code.google.com/p/wl500g/downloads/list (the wl-500w one) and flash it with the restoration tool...
btw, is this card stil 802.11g? if it's 802.11n you NEED 3 antennas
And perhaps for your own information: http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=26178&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
you don't need a new card that way;)
