Bekijk de volledige versie : Connecting to a NAS box
I have a Synology DS-101 NAS server (Linux) which I'd like to connect to my WL-HDD. Separately they work fine, the WL-HDD wirelessly connected to my Draytek 2600G and the DS-101 wired into the back of the Draytek.
What I'd like to do is to connect the DS-101 into the Ethernet socket of the WL-HDD. When I try this I am unable to see the DS-101.
I have assigned the following settings manually for the DS-101:
IP: 192.168.1.22
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS: 192.168.1.1
Both devices are running the latest firmware (1.2.3.4 for the WL-HDD)
Does anyone think this setup can be made to work, and if so what to try next?
Thanks for your help.
You might look into just how the Synology NAS selects an "unused" IP address on your LAN. There may be differences in how the DHCP servers in the WL-HDD and the Draytek 2600G operate.
Do you have a way to make the NAS request a new IP address when you move it ? I assume that the ASUS and the Draytek are serving different subnets.
The Synology DS-101 can either be assigned an IP from a DHCP server or have it set manually. (I have it set the IP address of the DS-101 manually at the moment).
Currently I have the DHCP capability switched off on the WL-HDD. (The WL-HDD works fine with it switched on but the DS-101 still can't be seen, set to get its IP automatically).
The Draytek DHCP starts at 192.168.1.10 (Pool count 50). The WL-HDD goes from 192.168.1.100-150
Are you saying the DHCP server on the WL-HDD should be serving different IP addresses?
Thanks for your help.
You have left out of your posts too much of the details of your setup to let me give you a precise answer, but I can invite your attention to a few generalities:
1. If all three devices have IP addresses in the range 192.168.1.x/24 then they are all in the same subnet regardless of what the address pools may be.
2. It is not wise to have more than one DHCP server active in a given subnet.
3. The RJ-45 connection on the WL-HDD is designed to be an upstream connection (e.g., to a wired LAN). If it is used as a downstream connection (e.g., to the DS-101) then the air interface of the WL-HDD must be configured to bridge to the Draytek. Otherwise the WL-HDD has no upstream connection.
4. If the WL-HDD can be configured to bridge by air then you can find out how to do that on this forum.
Good luck.
