Bekijk de volledige versie : Again, performance.....

Hi all,

I'm reading a lot of threads where performance of the wl500gx is waaaay too low. In 1 thread the poorly written USB2.0 driver is blaimed.

However, I'm not (yet) interested in the SAMBA performance. The performance when using swap-space is more relevant (for my web-server).

So my question is: Did anyone test the performance with the USB2.0 without using the LAN? Eg: copying a file from one portion of the external disc to another portion, and measuring the speed.
(I don't have a deluxe, hence my question)

If this speeds reaches the USB2.0 theoretical speed, it would solve a lot of issues I'm now having with swapping and performance.

Are you dreaming? :D I've never heard of devices and adaptors which are able to achieve 480 Mbps...

The RAW read speed is about 5 mbytes/sec. WL-HDD gives about 9 mbytes/sec.

Dreaming? Yup, always. Life gets boring otherwise ;)

Did you test this locally inside the router itself (your not clear about this)? Eg: Copy a file located on /tmp/harddisk with cp command.

RAW means no filesystem at all. I.e. reading media data right on the device. With fs it would be a bit slowly.

Hi,

It it possible to write a short programm that copies a file from one directory to an other and shows the time it takes? I have a WL-500gx. So it would be no problem to make it to see how fast it is.

Yours,
