Bekijk de volledige versie : HDD problem
Hi,
I tried to plug an external HDD on my WL-500G Premium V2 but when I select AiDisk to set it up in the router config , I receive this message :You have not plugged any USB disk or have removed it. Please plug it and use the wizard again.
I use a WD 1Tb with his own external power supply. The HD is working fine directly on the computer.
My router have firmware version 3.0.3.6 installed.... any hint ?
Thanks
In the meantime, I updated the firmware to 3.0.3.8 and I still have the same issue
When I look in the general log, I can see that the router "knows" when I remove/plug the HD :
Jan 29 19:52:19 USB device: "1058/1101/165" was removed.
Jan 29 19:52:19 USB webcam: removed
Jan 29 19:53:01 USB storage: "1058/1101/165" was plugged in.
Jan 29 19:53:01 USB webcam: attached
But I'm wondering what is this webcam line in the log... might be the problem ? The router idetified my HD as a webcam ??
Also, My HD is formatted NTFS... could this be a problem ??
What happens if you use the other usb port?
Maybe you have more luck with oleg firmware.
Thanks for the reply.
Same thing for both USB port.
I wanted to installe the Oleg firnware but I do not think there is a version for my specific WL-500G Premium v2.
When I look here :
http://oleg.wl500g.info/1.9.2.7-7g/
I can see these versions
WL300g-1.9.2.7-7g.zip
WL500b-1.9.2.7-7g.zip
WL500bv2-1.9.2.7-7g.zip
WL500g-1.9.2.7-7g.zip
WL500gp-1.9.2.7-7g.zip
WL500gx-1.9.2.7-7g.zip
WL550gE-1.9.2.7-7g.zip
WLHDD-1.9.2.7-7g.zip
I was expecting something like WL500GPv2-1.9.2.7-7g.zip
Thanks for the reply.

then why do you browse one of the oldest versions?
for the latest beta ones: http://code.google.com/p/wl500g/downloads/list
and the latest normal old ones: http://oleg.wl500g.info/1.9.2.7-10/
I can recommend the beta tho, it might be even more stable than the normal one:p
thanks wpte , I installed the latest version now, 1.9.2.7-d-r1087 ;-)
I now have a lot more information in the log when I connect/disconnect the drive... everything seems fine :
Jan 30 13:31:03 kernel: usb.c: USB disconnect on device 00:03.1-1.2 address 4
Jan 30 13:31:03 kernel: USB device disconnected from the SCSI subsystem

When I try to acces the drive using windows or directly via FTP ftp://192.168.1.1/
I still cannot acces it.... any idea ?
Oleg is a bit different than the original.
Wengi's how-to will give you all the information you need to set it up properly: http://wl500g.info/showthread.php?t=10307
When the harddrive is formatted and mounter correctly you must set up the ftp server:
When you're in the web-interface goto "USB Application" -> "FTP Server"
The easiest setup:
Enable FTP Server: yes, LAN only (not for internet)
Anonymous Users Access: Disabled
Allow Super User to Login? Yes
just log in with your username and password.
Be sure to change the default password if you want to access it from the internet;)
To make it even more secure for internet you can set the firewall, in basic firewall settings, "Enable Brute Force Protection for FTP Server:" to yes.
This will block hackers;)
