Does anyone have experience with connecting a parallelprinter (HP-6L) through a parallel to USB adaptor to a WL-500G Deluxe. Is any special configuration or driver required and wich parallel to USB adaptor should i choose?

I have been looking on ATEN UC-1284B, Belkin F5U002 and Sandberg 133-00 (cheapest).

Will this cause me any problems?

I bought a Sandberg 133-00 adaptor. The router found the HP 6L printer but is showing:

Printer model: H&#-122&#-86*
Printer status: On-line
User:

I have tried the Win2000 guide on http://wl500g.dyndns.org/printing/. Nothing happens when I try printing a testpage.
Is there somewhere where i can set the printer model / printer configuration manually? (Will that help, or is the adaptor the problem?)

Have you used port 9100? Also, have you connected adaptor to the printer at all and turned printer on?
There is no printing attempts in your log.

Yes printer is turned, USB connected and I use port 9100.
I tried rebooting the router a couple of times and now it doesnt show anything in Printer Model. Like it cant find the printer anymore..

Does that mean that if finds a printer device or does it write this even though no printer has been connected to the router?

I've seen similar things with garbage instead of name only once, when adapter was not inserted to the printer.
Try connecting it to the PC USB port and check that adapter works.

Thanks for you hints Oleg.

I tried connecting to Win2000 and got the same error: ok connection but no printing. Then I read another thread sugesting to print a testpage while connecting to the printer. This helped in Win2000. I tried the same procedure on the router. it says:

Printer model: Unknown

But now I can print through the router from my PC. This must be because of something specific to the HP 6L printer.

..I just hope it keeps working, or start saving money for an usb-printer.

Sorry I think you misunderstood my post.. I got it to work allright. I just had to print a testpage by pushing the button on the printer. That made the router recognize the printer... Wonderfull world of computers :confused: :)
