Hi guys,
Is it normal to have a transfer rate of about 1 GB per hour from a usb device connected to the router? (its formated in EXT 3 and I'm transferring with SMB).
My router is a wl500 GPV2

Anyone plz? (I found out that I get a maximum of 600kbps on sftp) Is it normal? on top the CPU doesn't get over 60% while transfering files.

sftp is encrypted so its a lot slower than normal ftp
Any FTP measurements? I get ca. 3 MB/s over Ethernet both for SMB and FTP (SMB is slightly slower, though) resulting in 1 GB per 10 minutes or so. Also WiFi connection might be a factor if you use it.

FTP is around 500 Kb/s. I think there is something wrong with it ... it can't be this slow. And if I see the processor use with top it's not at 100% while copying files.

Sounds like crippled kernel/net settings or broken box.

Also I've hooked up a 3G modem (huawei k3765 I think) and I can only get 150Kb/s from the modem when I should get about 6 mb/s is there anything limiting this speed?
which ftp client are you using?

Ok, and which ftp server on the asus?
Just for testing:
Does it make a difference is you use an ftp client from e.g. a windows machine?
Try with passive or active ftp...
Can't think of anything else at the moment..

Hi guys, just reinstalled everything on my router. I forgot to mention that I'm using koppel firmware not oleg. After the reinstall I followed Wengi tutorial to get everything working. I just switch on the ftp on webui and try it from there. The speed begins with 1.5mb/s and than lower too 500kb/s and stays there. I don't know if its passive or active the ftp :| !

Hi again guys, can someone plz help me on this thing?
I've installed samba3 to see if there was any difference and there isn't much. I've reniced smb process to -19 but nothing happens. And when I check in top the processor is not being fully used.
Can someone plz give me a hint? Thanx
