Tried reflashing my wl500gpv2 with all versions of firmware images from http://support.asus.com/download/ but unfortunately could not login to no one of them with default user/pass admin/admin to web interface. Also tried some standard combinations root/admin root/root root/password ... but no luck with it. Can anybody suggest me what should i do to get it working?
on wl500gpv1 i was using openwrt but there is no support for both usb and wifi. ANd i need both of them.
Please help!!!

It's brand new device?
Have you tried to reset to factory defaults?

I fixed it by resetting nvram vars to defaults. looks like that was problem with
nvram http_passwd issue. I used this image to clean nvram http://wl500g.dyndns.org/wl500g-clear-nvram.trx. Now it all works fine. Thnx again.

I have the same issue. Then tried to upload the asus firmware. I can't login. I have tried to flash with wl500g-clear-nvram.trx ... Then upload the asus firmware. I still can't login. Is the something special I need to do after I upload wl500g-clear-nvram.trx??

none of the combinations let me access the router ... admin/admin ... root/admin ... etc?? The Asus firware broadcasts the ssid from the dd-wrt firmware, So I don't think that wl500g-clear-nvram.trx is doing what it is suppose to do. But the Asus firmware is taking because I get the automatic Asus setup screen, I just can't loigin to configure it.

Just a thought here ..

Make a serial connection to your device , boot it , and execute

nvram get http_username
and

nvram get http_passwd

to see the crediterials.

Good luck.

The same situation - reset don't work, and I can't login using telnet or putty - http also.
How can I make serial connection if I don't know new login/passw?
