Hello, I'm running firmware I have SAMBA running. Created some hidden shares and users to access them. From my LAN I can access the shares. From the WAN site I can't. Can someone tell me why?
My firewall settings are default. I've read the forums, but did'nt find a solution.

Thank in advance.

That's a very bad idea in the first place. Most ISPs block Samba from the outside due to the flood of viruses going around and all. Your ISP stinks if it doesn't. Either way, the WAN side your testing from may have Samba blocked as well (outgoing and incoming), so...

Other than that, I think the default firewall rules MAY block it as well, but I don't remember. You'd have to use custom firmware and do some iptables stuff to figure that out.

I still recommend wholeheartedly against using Samba from the WAN side. Use something else, like secure FTP... or... you know. Just Google.

With custum firmware you can use ssh tunneling to access samba shares from WAN in a safe manner. Check http://oleg.wl500g.info on how to enable ssh on your router and how to open your firewall for ssh traffic and then check out this article on how to tunnel samba traffic on windows: http://www.blisstonia.com/eolson/notes/smboverssh.php

This works beatufully for me. Of course this is not a recomended way of transfering large files!

PS: Unless you mean WLAN instead of WAN? Then you have a totally different problem..
