I apologies if this is a silly question but...
I have a USB device that I have to communicate t via a program that runs on a Windows XP PC, i.e. the USB device has to be physical connected to the PC.

Is it possible to use a WL-500gP v2 to access the device wirelessly but still use the same PC software, i.e. the PC thinks the USB device is physically connected but it isn't (since it is connected to WL-500gP v2)?

What is the device and does it get a drive letter?

You need to give more info if you like to have this answered.

Showing my ignorance I am afraid. I think it is bad news as under MyComputer it is not listed at all. The system finds it when it gets plugged in, as it loads a USB driver (I think I know what the driver file is) but you don't see it under MyComputer.
The software that comes with the device, when run finds it OK and I can then transfer files to and from it.

The are several tools that allow USB over IP.

An opensource version is USB-IP (@sourceforge). However, atm there is no Windows port of the driver yet.

Another problem is that it needs a 2.6 kernel and Oleg still uses a 2.4 one.
