The wl-500w doesn't support usb over ip, so it isn't possible to use the scanner and fax

the printer might work tho.

if you want to make use of scanner and other functionalities, I can highly recommend something like this: (works with any usb device) http://conceptronic.net/site/desktopdefault.aspx?tabindex=1&tabid=222&cid=20&gid=2060&pid=CPSERVUM
you can even hook up multiple printers via a usb hub with this thing:)

Hi everybody,

thats not right wpte. Scanner support is possible if you setup a scanner-server on your router. For example the sane-project (http://www.sane-project.org) can help you. I compiled a sane scanner-server on my WL500gP and it works like a charm. I did a little HowTo (http://wl500g.info/showthread.php?t=21081) on how to set it up.
If you have any further questions, ask.

Regards
Oliver

good stuff!:D
They got solutions for all things these days, but I have to say that I'll still like my usboip printer server a bit more:p
Since it actually looks like the printer is entirely connected to the pc, all the functions of my printer become active. (some printers just need that)

The printing doesn't work on oleg for me (on original fw it does:confused:) so in the end the usboip server is for me the winner:p
But if the printer worked on the router I would definitely chosen for the scanning via the router:D

Hi,

"usboip printer server"? Wich one do you use.

Sane-Server is a great and cheap alternative solution but sometimes I am missing some options of Canon MP Navigator as well ;). But since my Multifunction Scanner/Printer MP830 is completely supported, I can do nearly everything, even scanning duplex :D
And XSane is a good frontend with many useful options.
There is also a TWAIN-Driver available, so you can scan from other applications like Acrobat Pro.

The printing doesn't work on oleg
Nearly every printer works, wich one do you use??

my USBoIP printer serverL http://conceptronic.nl/site/desktopdefault.aspx?tabindex=1&tabid=222&cid=20&gid=2060&pid=CPSERVUM

I have a lexmark x1150. On the original asus firmware it works just in one go, it gets attached and I can print.
On olegs firmware however it only attaches to the router, and stays that way till I try to print, then it just crashes out or something.
also the ink levels between computers differ this way, which is very enjoying since you never know what the right level is:p
for some reason the printer server gets the levels all synced :)
