Hi !

I have Asus WL-500gP V2 router which runs on DD-WRT. Everything works fine, except that I cannot use any USB devices because the router doesnt recognize any. I have read million Wiki "how-to-do"s but never found the solution (all USB options are enabled).

Therefore, I would like to change the FW from DD-WRT to Oleg. Can anyone send me the link with instrucions or just to briefly tell me how to do it since almost all internet links explain this procedure like changing from the Asus original FW to Oleg (which is not the case here).

Thanks!

simple way

grab a beer

Telnet or SSH into 192.168.1.1

erase nvram
reboot

tftp asus original firmware

wait 5 minutes

reset button 30 seconds

tftp oleg firmare

wait 5 minutes

reset to factory defaults

grab another beer

and this finished

Thanks

To erase nvram, i should type mtd -r erase nvram ?

how risky (or better to say "bricky" :( ) is the whole procedure?

There is always the risk of brick
but the several times that changed from dd-wrt to Oleg
never had any problem
don't forget you should put in Restore mode before tftp
each firmware

the whole process was done on a pc with linux installed
i just don't have the balls to use windows
in windows you must create a tftp server or some tipe of tftp client
probably the asus restoration software can be used
but like I said Windows is not my scene
