Whats the differences between WL500g Premium V1 and V2, aside of the price
WL-500gP v1 is slightly faster (264MHz (v1) vs 240MHz (v2)). Version 1 also has slightly better RAM (DDR 32bit for v1, DDR 16bit for v2). Version 1 has a mini-PCI wireless card. Version 2 is basically a single chip solution.

If you want to use Oleg firmware, then there is probably no big difference. If you want to use the latest Asus firmware, then v2 has a much nicer looking interface. Asus probably won't update v1 firmware anymore, at least not revamp the interface. The Oleg firmware is much more flexible though.
Generally, v1 is better supported by third party firmwares because it has been around longer. Though, this might change as people have more time to play around with v2.
Older v1 routers have a minor hardware glitch (Asus put the wrong resistor in the wireless PCI card) which resulted in slightly inferior SNR (weaker wireless signal).
It is generally considered better to get a v1 router though it is quite difficult to find one of those at the moment.
