Hello everybody,

I've got a question, I just opened an account on Gmail, and I can use the pop feature without any problem, but I cant use the smtp server. it's not working and I don't understand why.

I was wondering if there is something special to do with my WL-500g?
Since it a secured smtp server on a special port (465) I think I may have something to do with the router. I can use the POP feature, and I use other pop3 and smtp (non SSL) without any problem.

I do not chnage a lot of thing in my router conf, it's almost the default one, except for the wifi, where I put some WPA-PSK...

You can see below the image for Gmail where they explain how to setup the accoubd on Outlook. I did exactly what they show, and smtp feature does not work.

Any help

Thanks

Calimero

Most likely your ISP blocks outgoing SMTP traffic to prevent SPAM.

Thanks for the answer, but I don't think so.

I've got friends of mine that have the same ISP, and he use gmail smtp without any problem. By the way I use other smtp services with no problems (I mean not only the smtp server of my ISP)

When they block SMTP they usually block port 25, no? Anyways you should probably just use the SMTP server of your ISP. There is no need to use gmails smtp-server unless you are constantly on the move, like with a laptop.
