I've found this to be true... When I'm using a program such as VLC to multicast music, video, etc. over UDP, it works, but eventually I stop receiving packets from the router. This doesn't stop the multicast from working, but I can't do anything, of course, since the router stops sending packets. This does NOT occur with later firmwares and is unrelated to any of the other problems I've had which may/may not have had to do with newbieness, and my firewall should be configured to allow all LAN/WLAN traffic so I don't think it has anything to do with that. My complete firewall configuration, besides port forwarding, can be viewed here (http://wl500g.info/showthread.php?p=11526#post11526) anyway.
Can anyone else confirm this? I know 1.8.1.7-3 is old and all but it's the most stable for me.
UPDATE: I set the policies of iptables to ACCEPT for INPUT, OUTPUT, (iptables -P INPUT ACCEPT, etc) and FORWARD (allowed everything) and... well you know. Same problem, and I know that by doing this all rules were truly off because the security scan showed just about every port (besides the ones my ISP blocks) Closed and not Blocked. This is a confirmation in my eyes.
