hello warriors of the wl500gp!
short story:
is there somewhere a nice guy who can build the ndas driver as ipkg-package, so that i can install it on my asus wl-500gP running latest oleg firmware? see link: http://code.ximeta.com/trac-ndas/wiki/HowToBuildManual
somehow i'm too dumb to get this done by myself :o
long story:
my hardware:
* my beloved wl-500gP
* my ac-ryan usb-disk which can also be used as a kind of NAS-storage (connected to router via lan)
if you use this disk as nas-storage, then you connect it via lan to the router and can access it from every pc in your (w)lan with nfs. you can install the driver to access the disc either on you client-pcs or on the router directly. here some problems arise:
* installing the driver (ndas-driver - link see above) on my linux-client-machines doesn't work as it should (especially with newer kernels).
* spindown of the discs seems to work only when used with the ndas-driver (otherwise i would connect it to my router via usb directly). scsi-stop does't work.
* pre-compiled ndas driver-packages only exist for openwrt white russian - but in openwrt the nfs-performance is terrible compared to oleg (only ~700kbyte/sec compared to ~2MByte/sec on oleg).
Would be great if someone could create ipkg-packages for oleg. Perhaps other people could use (need) them too --> move them to official repository.
Thanks in advance,
woif
P.S.: If you live in Vienna or Linz i pay for your work - with some beer :)
