Hi,
I have two routers (1st ASUS WL-500gP as main and 2nd ASUS WL-500W as second to WiFi connection as second VLAN) I have problem with dhcp relay from stations in VLAN (br1 resp. eth0) f.e.:
ISP
|
[ASUS WL-500gP] - DHCP server
|
[ASUS WL-500W]
|
Stations

Both routers include extended 1GB flash disks and installed ipkg (but I a not find any dhcprelay)

Thanks for any replay to find any solution.

Did you take a look at the dnsmasq man page?

dhcp relay...
you mean that the stations aquire the ip from the wl-500gp?
I guess so...
in that case you should insert the cable between the gP and the W in the LAN port of the W and not in the WAN...
if you then disable dhcp on the W you should have it working:rolleyes:

It is not function solution - when I switch off the dhcp server on wl500w any dhcp request or answer will not go trough the router.
dnsmasq will be rihgt way - but I feel like BFU :-(
What I need?
wl500gP (vlan1 10.1.1.0/255.255.255.0 - LAN )
- in this sub-net is server 10.1.1.10 (it contains dhcp, dns)
&
wl500w (vlan2 10.1.3.0/255.255.255.0 LAN & 10.1.1.5/255.255.255.0 WAN)
- in sub-net 10.1.3.0 I would like put forward all dhcp request to address 10.1.1.10 by the router.

How I have to setup the dnsmasq.conf file to reach this function.
Maybe I will have to study man-pages :-)
Thanks for Your advice ;-)

did you plug the calbe in the LAN1 port instead of the WAN port?
it's working verry well over here:confused:

but, what you asked specific here.... I have no idea tbh
maybe someone knows in the wl-500gP part of the forums:)

I try this configuration:
wl500gP:
ISP < 10.0.0.1 (WAN) <> (LAN) 10.1.1.1
wl500W:
10.1.1.5 (WAN) <> (LAN) 10.1.3.1
dhcp request from subnet (10.1.3.0) really doesn't appear on WAN interface (tcpdump)
I know that possible to make plane-net - (wl500w set as only switch) but a would like to make an isolation sub-net (for broadcast packet) in this micronet are in most cases widozes. In first sub-net (10.1.1.0) are *nix machine :-)

hmm... I have no idea how to do that mate, sorry:(
I'm not really a specialist on networks, I just like to program embedded systems:p
