Hi.

How do i configure the firewalls in the router? I mean, i understand how they work, but i dont know which ports to close and so on... Is there any guides available on this matter? Because i really want to take advantage of all the things I can do with this router...

In general if your router works as gateway to public network, you should close every port you don't use. ;)
Try these links:
http://www.netfilter.org/documentation/index.html#documentation-faq
http://www.jollycom.ca/iptables-tutorial/iptables-tutorial.html
http://bridge.sourceforge.net/document.html

in the time i had a linux box running 24/7 @ home, i closed everything, and opened the incoming ports i needed

should be easier in my opinion
