I would like to use my Asus WL-700 router with a Huawei USB HSDPA modem (a E220 )

I'm currently running the kfurge custom firmware 1.0.7.8.
I know there are some tutotials that apply to other Asus routers, but I would like to use the WL-700, preferably with this firmware (but I'm willing to investigate others if necessary).

Does anybody have any experience with using UMTS USB modems on this router? Can it be done easily?

This issue has been posted before in wl500g forums, it won't work with kfurge as far as I know it has to be the other version of opensoftware but I am not sure.

Hi,
I was wondering if you found a solution to this as i also want to do what you were trying.

Please let me know.
Thanks,
Claire

Sierra Wireless, the chipset manufacturer in most of these 3G/Edge USB dongles, does not have a driver for the 2.4 kernel. They only support 2.6.

It's unfortunate, but I'm pretty sure you'll have to abandon the Asus firmware if you want to use an Aircard.

If it is a 2.6 kernel, then no problem.
