I wonder if anyone could help me to answer this - see if it is unique to the locality which I am in, or it is generally the same.

I noticed that the WL500G is sold much higher price that those from Linksys, Dlink and others. Those non-Asus boxes are going at around USD 63-75, while the WL500G is at USD 112-132.

About the only thing differentiate the WL500G is the USB port. Am I missing something else ?

in holland the WL500g is starting from € 70,60 (including 19% VAT)

and linksys WRT54g is starting from 60,45 so there is indeed a difference but not THAT much

Asus WL-500g sells here @ 71 EUR
Linksys WRT54GS sells here @ 76 EUR

Other routers are in the same range.

I just learned that there is actually a WL500g deluxe. Could it be that the price I got (USD 112-132) was meant for a deluxe ? Hmmm I vaguely remember the price list mentioned that the model is new ....

My WL500g . . . it took me 64€ without VAT (Austria)

...would be +20%VAT

Yeah I go back to read the hardcopy pricelist which I gotten some two weeks ago, Yes, it mentioned that it is a WL500G Deluxe with 2 USB port. Sorry for the confusion, even the Sales person couldn't answer me when I asked them why it is so much more expensive, looks like the Sales person also need some education. :-)

Pricing varies daily, however. I got mine in early december from this vendor for $66.
