Hi,

I am thinking of purchasing an Asus WL-500G Premium router to use it as a router and a device to download torrent files on to a external USB Hard Drive. I have read in the forums that the Download Master program on the router is useless but say some threads where some users have managed to download torrents with a third party firmware(oleg) and torrent client(rtorrent).

The questions I have is as follows
1) Is it possible to download torrents and use as a router simultaneously?
2) Is it possible to download large files using the torrent client (eg: Linux ISOs)?
3) Is there any difference between the V1 and V2 of the device and what is best?
4) Is it possible to use the front end for the torrent client on OSX?
5) Does the router require any hardware modification?

Thanks,
Alex

I would go for V1, it's faster
V2 has some more firmware features, but since you'll be going to use olegs (I guess you will) it doesnt matter which one you pick, but V1 is faster... so I would go for V1:p

Does the torrent client run reliably?
How fast are the download speeds, are they similar to that of a of PC client?
Is the speed difference significant between the revisions?
What is HNFI?
Thanks for the reply,
Alex
