I look for how to setup my WL500G with static adress IP.
I try to disable the DHCP function and to add my static IP adress to
Manually Assigned IP List.
and I select "yes" for Enable Manual Assignment?

But unfortunatly I haven't some success with this function.

I would like to know if this product can work with a static adress ?

I use this firmware : 1.8.1.7-2a

Thank a lot for your help and sorry for my bad English language.

je ne suis pas non plus specialiste en reseau mais j'ai reussi à faire fonctionner mon wl500g

ma config:
tout est en auto

Well, if you want to use static addresses, you don't want a dhcp server. So disable the dhcp server.

Once you've done that, you can set the ip addresses and gateway and dns server on your workstation.

That ought to work. Be sure you supply your workstations with the default gateway address you have set as a lan IP address in the configuration and with nameserver addresses as well.

If you want to use fixed dhcp addresses, you switch on the dhcp server, and set enable manual assignment to on. Then you can add the mac address which you can tie to an IP address, and after that is done the workstation should always get the manually set IP address.

My target is to assign an IP adress to each PC and to limit the acces only the computer with a good IP adress.
Because with one my PC I have some problem with a DHCP but without problem with IP fix.

In addition I think that security will be better with IP fix.

Thank a lot for your help

Well, if dhcp is a problem on one of your pcs here's what I would do.

1). Figure out why the pc can't seem to use dhcp.
2). If that doesn't work, narrow down your dhcp leases. So lets say you have set it to 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.100. Then your dhcp server won't give out addresses above 192.168.1.100. Now you set the problem pc to 192.168.1.101 and it should work nicely.

Better than this, you can also assign automatically fixed IP address via the DHCP, the only thing you'll have to know is the mac address of the PC wich is concerned by this IP.

Then, you can do everything you want

Oldudu - French too

Topicstarter told us one of his pcs doesn't want to do dhcp hence the static ip question. If you hand out reserved dhcp addresses, that pc still has to be able to do dhcp requests correctly.

So there is no other option than to use static ip addressing on that particular pc. Or fix the problem on it :D
