Firmware with with special energy safe feature?

Hi,

I'm searching for an firmware, that allows to set an idle timer, which turns off the hdd motor after a while of unusage. Alternatively would help an option, that turns off the motor in the night, on a setupable time, like from 2 till 8 o'clock. Does a custom firmware excists, which offers one of the requested features? Sorry for my rusty english!

Ohh the reason for such an feature is more the wish for a long harddisk life, than safe energy (drive just consumes 2.5 watt at the most)

well.. if you want a LONG harddisk life, be sure it won't be turned off and your harddisk will survive for years

turning it off and on, will shorten the hd's life quicklier
