Hi All,

I've got an Asus WL500gP running Oleg's 1.9.2.7-10. It's connecting Wirelessly to my Netgear DG834GT router, and has a 256mb Memory key attached for extra storage.

For the past year it's been running completely fine. In normal operation the Power LED is lit, as is the AIR LED, which flashes when the Asus is accessed.

However, recently it has started to randomly crash for no reason. It happens between 30 and 60 minutes after powering up the device. When it stops responding the Power and AIR LED's go out, and the WAN LED all the LAN LED's light up constantly.

I've tried using a new memory key, and using no memory key at all and it's made no difference.

Does this pattern of LED's lighting up mean anything? I'm very confused and am worried that it's broken.

All help/advice is much appreciated...

does it work longer when you don''t have your usb stick attatched?
maybe the stick is broken;)

It still crashes when there is no USB stick attached. It seems to crash after around 45mins of being switched on, and then keeps crashing after hard resets. After the 1st crash it normally only takes between 5/10 mins for a subsequent crash to occur.

Could it be heat related? Or is the unit terminally broken?

it could also be an error in the firmware...
try this:
reset everything to factory defaults
upgrade firmware to the lastest
reset everything to factory defaults again
set up your router with the basic stuff, leave the advanced settings alone.

if then still you got problems, I recommend to use your warranty, be sure to flash back to the original firmware first if you are using oleg.

heat generally shouldn''t be a problem, you could try to place your box in an open place in a cooled area...:)

Hi,
I did everything as above and flashed the unit back to the latest Asus firmware. Unfortunately the problem with the box crashing after a period of time persists.

I've decided to raise a case with Asus about it. What's the warranty period on these units? Is it just 1 year?
