Hi, asked this question in my previous thread but to keep it on topic ik decided to open this one for my lease problem.
My router renews lease every hour while it's set for every day...
I'd like to change it to once every week or so but the input field on the webconfig is too small (only 5 chars seem allowed).
Just flashed my router to th 1.9.7.2-2(oleg) and this is what i get. It does the same with other firmware releases.

It obtains a lease for 7200 while it's set to 86400 (default) and every hour he renews it. Now i got lucky that i flashed the router at 10.47 and it failed at 12.36. Sometimes it stays online for a day, sometimes it fails twice in 10 hours. When i placed a hub between my modem and router (to fix the motorolla modem disconnect issue, it stayed online for over a week but now i can't stay online longer than 1 or 2 days)

Dude,

thats your WAN address you get renewed. That lease has been set by your ISP, and cannot be altered by yourself.

that's what i figured too but i wanted to make sure my internal lease setting had nothing to do with the lease getting lost.

192.168.1.2 00:11:09:05:55:18 lease not found only mentions my internal ip so maybe i have to set my own leases for 7200 too?

those are two separate things.

On your wan interface you have set it up as a dhcp client. So that interface will do dhcp requests to yr ISP's dhcp server.

On yr lan it will hand out dhcp addresses, so it will listen on the lan side for DHCP requests. If you get a message lease not found, then it could be you got that lease before you have booted your asus.

Once you have booted it your workstation will ask your asus for the same address it had before you booted it. The asus will look in its lease table and can't find that lease because a reboot flushes it. So that is probably why you get that message.

so is there any way to make sure my router always knows that my pc had that lease? there are multiple computers here but only one that i use and that's on most of the time but i've set up the dhcp to always give my mac adres the 192.168.1.2 ip.

sure, in the web interface underneath there is a heading saying manual assignments. Just put in the mac address of the pc you want to have a specific IP address, and type the address there and presto. Make sure you set the radio button of manual assignment to on as well.

i already had that from the start, that's why i dont understand why it keeps saying it can't find the lease

It is because you originally got that lease, and then you rebooted the asus. If your workstation doesn't have an ip address it asks for one, while if the lease runs out it asks for an extension of the lease of a specific address.

So the request to the asus is to extend the lease, while according to the asus that specific lease hasn't been handed out yet (hence the reboot).

so after the reboot it will disconnect once if im unlucky but i should be fine for the rest of the time if i dont reboot the router.
I do think i started messing with the setting everytime i noticed a disconnect :)
