Please can you help me. I have this problem . I have one router with adsl (the interface is not very user friendly and it has not so myny functions as my wl500gp) modem and wl500gp. I want my wl500gp to be connected to internet by pppoe but i can't connect it to the wan port because i need another computers to be conected to the adsl router. Can you advise me how to set it up to let the wl500gp think that the adsl is connected is connnected to wan? Thank you for your responses. Excuse my bad English. ;)

Why can`t you connect ADSL router to Asus through WAN?

Hi and sorry my English.

Change wl500g router wan mode to dynamic. If you set it, the wl500g router is a "PC" for adsl modem_and_router combo.
Disable any firewall in router (wl500g), change ip settings from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1 in a router and any connected PC. And work fine...
If you use windows net pc1..3 and pc4..6, set workgroup name equ both subnet. You can use the shares :

net use <drive:> \\ip_addr\share_name

I remember, share with \\computername\share_name not working, but I don't use it since 2 year...

bye,
George

Have you turned on DHCP server on ADSL router?
I don`t know exactly how to configure your ADSL router, but you should try to turn on DHCP server in LAN settings... You could probably find LAN settings in Advanced Setup or something similar...

try to set static IPs on PC1,2,3

PC1 - 192.168.1.3
PC2 - 192.168.1.4
PC3 - 192.168.1.5

4,5,6 have internet access through Asus and ADSL router?

i tryed but only thing when it was working was wheni conected my nb to wl500gp and than connected to that adsl router so it worked but when i set renew ip addres it didnt get any. I dont want to set the ip addreses manualy isnt there any otherway? What i thing is that that wl500gp cant lease ip addresses though wan on any circumstances (but maybe I am wrong).
What about connecting it to normal lan port on wl500 and then some how route it that it would look like it is connected to the wan. I tryied something like this but i dont realy know how th routing works

I don`t know really.. It should work.. I have similar network as yours, configured the same as I described it to you.. and it works as with no problems.. I even have Access Point connected to WL-500gP forwarded ports for every computer..

thats strange isnt there just some small stupid setting I overlooked which should be set some other way to let the wl500 lease the ip s to computers on wan port

but you can not attach the computer to Asus`s WAN port..

you should attach ADSL modem to ASUS`s WAN...and configure everything exactly I described... I don`t know better.. but I suppose it can`t be better than that..

I`ll try once again

you should configure your ADSL router`s LAN settings like this..
The most important is that ADSL router`s LAN IP is 192.168.1.1 and Subnet mask 255.255.255.0.. The other settings depend on router or ISP
AND you have to turn od DHCP, also depends on your ADSL router

Now you need to configure your WL-500gP like this..
These are screenshots from my WL-500gP with Oleg`s FW.. Settings are the same for you.
You may need to change the DNS server to your ISP`s..
Hope you`ll manage to configure it successfully now..
