Hi guys!
Hope someone can clarify an IP situation for me. After reading all pertaining to my case on this forum I setup my home LAN like this:
internet (static IP 202.63.xx.xx) ---> Dynalink RTA230 modem/router (IP 192.168.0.1) DHCP on, PPPoA, connection Always ON ----> Asus WL500G (IP 192.168.0.2) ---> 4 PC's ( IP 192.168.0.10 to ..0.13)
WL500G is in Home Gateway mode.
My question is: -under the heading WAN IP Setting, it seems logical to put the Dynalink's IP address, as that is the next gateway for ASUS. However it doesn't work, I can't see the Dynalink's setup page, let alone access internet.
--these are my current settings --
WAN IP Setting
IP Address: 192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
WAN DNS Setting
Get DNS Server automatically? No
DNS Server1: 192.168.0.1
DNS Server2:
LAN IP Setting
IP Address: 192.168.0.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
PC1 uses the ASUS IP as default gateway and DNS server.
Can someone please tell me what IP address I should put in the WAN IP Address? I tried all sorts of combinations in the last 2 days and nothing at all work. Also I noticed that every time I reset the router the WAN IP Address comes back to 1.1.1.1 I also installed the lates firmware upgrade. I don't think there's anything wrong with the router, it's more with my understanding of IP addressing. I am following same rules as when I set up the Dynalink modem router (which I actually want to use with DHCP off), to no avail.
I have also uninstalled the firewall (Norton IS)
Any help will be most welcome!!
