Hi,

i'm new to this stuff.

May be i can get a little help here.

I connect a hdd (its put in a external data storage) to the wl 500 g. I want to share the datas on it in my lan. What do i have to do that i can make the datas visible?

As far as I know you have to flash the router with the latest custom firmware. Just check out the threads about custom firmware.

Use ftp (enable WL-500g ftp server) or use Samba (available in some custom firmwares, just search this forum for Samba) If you want to use as a network drive accessible to workstations.

wy should i flash the firmware? Normally i have to plug in the usb drive and thats it. Thats my understanding.

If you use custom firmware you can use the disk as a network drive on all workstations. (also see Brubber's post)

have you looked at the FRONT page of this forum?

there you see a link FIRMWARE RELEASES.. should say enough..

also a bit googling won't hurt

Yes i did. But and thats may be my fault, i saw a lot of threads and no firmware. What i also found was an ftp? (i'm new) and there i didn't saw Firmware v.1.9.2.7 CR2 [Oleg]

Thats the reason for me question.

Ok, wait for 1.9.2.7-3, it will include basic file sharing functionality configurable from the web interface.
