Hello !
Can somone help me to get my HP 990cxi working on parallel please ?
I tried several FW and different settings of the printer, but nothing works.
Wether RAW nor LPR/LPRServer works. No Error occures while setup with the printer-wizard.
I really don't know what to do anymore.
A step by step advice would be great.

Well, I tried official FW 1.6.5.3/1.7.5.6/1.8.1.7/1.8.1.9, but
result negativ.
It's not important which FW, just one working with my HP990cxi.
Using the WL500g as an AP and at the moment I'm back on 1.6.5.3.
Hope you can help me an tell me the secret.

Official firmwares up to 1.9.2.6 does not support RAW printing. Also, some firmwares does not support printing while running in the AP mode.
Do you've anything regarding printing in the status page?
Well, in the status report only 'offline' appears.....
I only need the ASUS as an AP and would like to print via parallel-port to the HP 990cxi.
Do you know which FW-Release should work ?
Or is it not possible ?
After I bought the 500g I tried to use it as my Home-Gateway, but 'Idle-disconnect' doesn't work (also tried several FW's) so I had to go back to my W_Linx Router and use the ASUS only as AP.
But it seems to be also a nigthmare for me.....
By far this ASUS FW's is the worst Software I ever had to do with !
The ASUS WL500g ist a very good Hardware, but the Software ist terrible !
Nevertheless it seems to be that no FW-Release works ok, not even the basic functions !
Ok, Oleg any idee to get it work the way I need it ?

Well, in the status report only 'offline' appears.....
This is the first problem, seems like it does not detect your printer.
You could probably try flashing 1.8.1.7-3 and setup RAW printing as described here: wl500g.dyndns.org/printing/
Be sure to set port 9101 for LPT printer. It will probably still display Offline, but it will try printing regardless of it status.
If it does not print - post system log here.

But the link on chupa.nl for 1.8.1.7 CR3 doesn't work to download the FW. Just an empty page appears....

Will give them a try tomorrow and see what's happend....
Just wondering if YOU know why the 'Idle disconnect'-function doesn't work on the ASUS ?
Is it so difficult to make it work or I don't know...
On my W-Linx Router there was no problem at all, it worked perfect. After the idle-time I entered, the router disconnect from Internet.
I don't know if it works in the newest ASUS-FW, but if you can look about that would be great.
I'm tired to spent much more time on this until someone can tell me that it is working now.

Hi Oleg !
Running FW 1.8.1.7-3 now and :) surprise surprise :) the printer is now working !
I don't know if ALL functions of the printer running, but for the moment I'm happy !
The only thing is on the status-report always appears 'online' regarding whether the printer is switched on or off, but it doesn't matter.
Now I can try to hook up a cam/storage on USB.......

PS:
maybe some days the 'idle disconnect' is working also and an 'dial on demand' function will included....then I can use the ASUS as an 'Home Gateway'....
