Hi!

Does anybody know why OpenWRT is has so slow boot time compared to Oleg's or original Asus firmware? It's like 30s to 8s. And why I could install quite many packages on OpenWRT without using external USB drive and there was still sufficient RAM and Flash space and I cannot do the same using Oleg's fw? I tried installing just nano on internal flash and then it uses almost all RAM and flash. Is it because of different architecture of firmwares or just optimization for memory usage in OpenWRT?

Thanks for answers!

AFAIK Oleg's firmware is heavy optimized to reduce booting time (and some other things) at the price of flexibility and conformance to common linux layout.
E.g., pppd's "ip-up" is rewritten in c, while usually it's a shell script.
