So, I've tried tftp on Windows, the Windows firmware recovery program from Asus and tftp from my Macbook running Leopard - following the method described on the site here [wiki.openwrt.org] (http://wiki.openwrt.org/OpenWrtDocs/Hardware/Asus/WL500GP). All with equal amount of success (eg. none to speak of; none at all, in fact), even though I've followed the steps correctly (and checked multiple times).

So here's my question: How do I make it work? There doesn't seem to be any way left to me but flashing to freewrt with the web interface and then proceed to use the mtd method as described on the site here [wiki.openwrt.org] (http://wiki.openwrt.org/OpenWrtDocs/Hardware/Asus/WL500GP#head-ca19776bcf393f459de320392e373436df3bc823). I would really appreciate any help at all, as the last method seems a bit.. Time consuming..

The firmware that I'm trying to flash to is Kamikaze, but I don't see why that's much of a problem.

Please help :(

so... you are not able to upgrade via the webinterface?
Only the webinterface and tftp worked for me.
Be sure to use a twisted pair cable (other name: cross-link cable) when trying tftp.

btw, this is the the TFTP tutorial I used to try out the tomato firmware (wich visually looks fantastic, but doesn't really have a awfull lot of options):

let us know if it works:)

After the sending data with tftp you should wait 6 MINUTES!
