As far as I can tell, the official repository offers BitchX and irssi for IRC clients. I was wondering if there's anything more lightweight available. I need something small and light on resources that can do DCC auto-get and auto-resume. And it wouldn't hurt if it was as basic as possible to use. Oh, and written in C would be a bonus (no Perl or Python, they're a killer on the router).

I've tried sirc, which is an old aquintaince of mine. It uses Perl which is not exactly lightweight, but it's basic and nice. Unfortunately, it doesn't do DCC auto-get and its auto-resume behaves strangely at times.

I've also discovered rhapsody, which fails to handle DCC gets well at all.

Both of these I've compiled myself. So, any suggestions? Not necessarily something you've tried on the WL-500gP, if it's a Linux console client I can at least try to compile it. I'm having trouble finding a really small IRC with DCC autoget and autoresume.

Meanwhile, I'll examine the possibility of disabling stuff in irssi or bitchx to make them as light as possible.

Nevermind, I stumbled across weechat in the repository and it seems very very nice so far. The docs are easy to read, the config file is verbose but nice, I got it setup in 5 minutes.
