I bought this AP(WL500gP) several weeks,
I want this AP can catch the Client's radio signal strength or the other information,ex:MAC.
How can I do ? To write a new firmware?? or Use the old firmware to add new funtion?
I have a idea that is Using the "Wireless-Tool" (the linux attribute)to complelte my goal , but , I don't know how to do this??

What do you mean?? I don't understand what you say....
This means that I should some packages and install this packages into the firmware ??

no, not excactly.
I think wpte is pointing out that your goal cannot be achieved with the standard firmware (which I don't know, I don't have experience with turning on/off the radio), but with oleg's firmware you have the option to install other software packages.. Maybe one of the available packages will have the option to disable the internal radio, or to fetch other information.

Well, it's easy. It's like installing software on a windows pc (a bit different tough).
If you have olegs firmware, you just can type the command: ipkg install package.
so if you want samba 2, for sharing files with windows pc's, you need something like this: ipkg install samba2.
You wait 5 seconds and you router downloads, installs and configure the software for you. After that you can configure it further to your needs;)

I found the craziest things in there, even a package to recode movies with your router:rolleyes: however I think that process would take some time:p

I have a ton of dvd's which I want to encode to divx/xvid.. doesn't matter how long it takes.. but since I have this asus, I can't justify running a pc 24/7 to myself anymore :D

haha... phew... I doubt it knows divx:rolleyes:
the package is FFMpeg I believe, it worked properly on gallery 2, but I don't know how to use it in command line mode tough;)
but, with a proper processor in ur pc you must be able to encode a full movie in like 30min:p with your router... (mind goes back to the good intel MMX processor) whole day?:p
