problem with usb hd

Hi folks!
i have the original firmware on the wl500gP and i try to connect en external HD (2 partitions 125GB FAT32 each)
when i go to "share nodes" ithe router doesn't find any folder.. nothing at all..
am i doing something wrong? should i do something more so that the router can see the drive? (i already created "user lists")

So.. for those of you who needs help in the same topic i can actually say i Fixed it!
that's the background:
the first thing i did with the router was to push the little button to restore default.. (i bought it used.. so you know..)
then i installed newest firmware.
then i tried to share my HD but didn't succeed.
...
yesterday i was just messing around and found the restore default function in the web interface. i tried it. after restarting i checked what firmware version i got and noticed it was the newest..
i tried to see if my HD was there and it finally did!
that's all! simple as that..
but why it didn't work in the very beginning i really don't know..
