Is it PIN10 time?

WL-500gx was hit by a power surge. All LEDs turn on at powerup then power stays on and after a while AIR LED turns on. Normal LED boot. But! No wireless network found. LAN cable LED behaves normally but pinging fails, no answer on port 80 either.

-Set static IP on laptop to 192.168.1.10, mask 255.255.255.0
-installed ASUS firmware restoration utility
-powered on WL500gx while holding reset button - restoration mode comes on (power LED flashes 1sec on, 1sec off)
-trying to upload new firmware
-ASUS firmware restoration utility sends packets to 255.255.255.255 UDP
-no answer from WL500gx
-ASUS firmware restoration utility aborts - no wireless router found

My question is, will PIN10 procedure help? I was thinking that grounding PIN10 on flash chip forces router to go into restoration mode, but my router seems to get into it by holding down reset while powering up. It just doesn't respond to anything. I tried all 4 LAN ports.

Any ideas? Could it be just a flash problem or could be something else?
