disable PPPoE

I am having an issue with PPPoE and my router. Every time i reboot the router it comes up and wants to connect via PPPoE. My cable modem only does DHCP. The workaround for this is that i disconnect and reconnect the router to the internet (through the routers web interface), but this is a pain. Is there any way of just permanently disabling PPPoE, so i no longer get redirect to that annoying screen.

btw - I'm using the 2.0 firmware.

I think the best thing to do is drop the 2.0 firmware and upload the 1.0.7.8 because its newer, maybe youre problem is gone than.
the 2.0 is very insecure

I really like the interface of the 2.0 firmware, is the new 1.0.7.8 interface similar? any screenshots anywhere?
