I have a Netgear MA401 Rev D (prism 2.5) card and i'm experiencing many interoperation problems between the card and the Router.

Sometimes i simply cannot connect, sometimes the card drops the connection after 20 seconds.
Very ocasionally i have a stable connection for 1 to 2 hours.

I've looked for interoperability problems between 802.11g and 802.11b and i configured the WL-500g with a very compatible configuration. However i'm still having the same problems.

I tried with WEP and without WEP and with prism firmwares from 1.5.6 to 1.8.0. Windows and Linux (hostap and orinoco_cs). Same thing.

Is this question new? Or it happens when using some 11B cards with 11G routers? There is anything i can do?

TIA

I'm using Orinoco Gold 11b card in my laptop to connect to WL-500g. Also, I'm using Ambicom 11b CF Card in my IPAQ. Everything works just fine with no problems at all. As for WL-500g settings - I've specified "11b only" setting.
Try upgading firmware on your PCMCIA card.

Try to check power saving options as well...

Well... after checking everything i realized that the router often reboots.
Couldn't predict a pattern but i guess it isn't normal.

Yes, this is abnormal. Mine stays rock solid for weeks.
As I wrote before there is a code, which tests the number of receive errors and performs hw reset -- see /init/recover_eth2.
Also, forgot to say - my ambicom CF card is the Prism in fact and use ancient 1.3.8 (?) firmware.

Yeah, my router reboots also quite often I don't know why. By the way where did you buy yours hagar? (I'm also in portugal) Mine was at Vobis. Is it possible that there was a faulty shipment or something?

do you have Remote web access enabled ? if yes, having the http port open from wan side, makes the wl500g vulnerable. e.g. everybody can send a empty get request, when someone is performing that the unit reboots itselves!!

I checked and it is off, it doesn't accept ping from the outside either.
