hi,
i'm trying, with no success to disable anonymous ftp access on my WL-HDD. Even if i create users account, i still can access without password and user name via ftp.

Create users accounts seems to only act on samba.
If somebody can help me. I've read the manual, but found nothing (or may be nothing understand)

thanks

It's driving me nutty trying to do this and I guess that it isn't possible. Been quite unable to get a comment from ASUS and the handbook is dreadful.

I have been able to log into a different partition using a password but it still connects to the original one with anonymous login!

After my last post I tried again and I think this works! :D

Make these settings under Storage settings:

Network Neighborhood Mode: Share all patitions in disk
FTP Mode: Login to first matched shared node

Create a user list with the username and password you want for FTP.

Enter all you disk partitions under Shared nodes list and edit the all to remove the Guest Share and Write options (uncheck the boxes).

In the partition you want for FTP, select the username from the dropdown list and give them the Share and Write permissions.

Click Apply, Finish and Save&Restart. When the WL-HDD reboots it chucks out all anonymous FTP logins, accepts ones in you User list and allows all ordinary network access.

I wish ASUS had made it a bit clearer.

It works like a charm, thanks!
When you try to logon anonymous, it still say's:

[R] Connecting to 192.168.0.4 -> IP=192.168.0.4 PORT=21
[R] Connected to 192.168.0.4
[R] 220 Welcome to FTP server.
[R] USER anonymous
[R] 331 Guest login ok, send your e-mail address as password.
[R] PASS (hidden)
[R] 532 Login incorrect.
[R] Connection failed

Strange that it still mentions that a guest login is oke, it doesn't feel very safe actually.

I followed your guidelines, but anonymous still connects to my FTP.

Can you please provide some more details about "Enter all you disk partitions under Shared nodes list and edit the all to remove the Guest Share and Write options (uncheck the boxes).", because I didn't follow this one. Guest is not in the access list for the shared node, just my users.

How do I disable anonymous access to the FTP???
