Hi all,
i recently bought Asus WL500gP and I replaced the original firmware by Olegs.
Than I used wengis howto (big thx man) to configure the new firmware and everything works just fine.. But I wont to add another functions to my router. So I searched the forum for some answers and I get more answers I can handle. :) It's very confusing to me, so I beg you to help me finding final ways to solve my problems :)
I'm a total linux newbie so exuse "non technical" expressions.
Let's start:
1) Samba is 100% working from LAN and I'd like to be able to access the FTP from internet. I found that I have to do that by editing post-firewall file and add some iptables rules. Could you please write what to add?
I'd like that FTP would be password protected. (or it could be all done by web control interface?)
2) Almost the same, but for SSH access by putty.
3) I'm looking for something simple to download http links (premium rapidshare links). I found few topics about it but I'm uncertain which one use.
4) I'd like to control downloads from anywhere (work etc.). I know there are many ways to do that, but agin I'm confused. Can you describe me how. (Copy torent file to source folder via FTP an than control it by LYNX? or how to access transmission.cgi remotly?)
5) It takes some time torrents to begin download. (aprox. 10 min.) I skipped the cron configuration in HowTo, I just installed it. But after that 10 mins everything works fine. Is thos normal or it's necessarily to forward some ports?
6) File transfers via LAN form samba to PC are really slow (350 mb 7 mins).
Normal or am I missing something?
7) And final one. Where I can change the name of router. I'm unable to find it.
I suppose that's about it. I know that all of these questions are "noobish" but seems that I'm not smart enough to figure it out.
I'll be wery glad for any help, suggestions and HowTos... Big thanks for any response.
