Hello everone,

new to the WL500g and this Forum, I've some questions, which I could not answer due to a search:

1. What are the FW-Versions beginning with 9.x.x.x? Are they experimental oder homebrew?
2. Where is the "hidden Admin page"?
3. How to connect a printer to the USB-port? And: Is it possible with a Canon i560?

I've I have tried the search with wrong keywords and there are already threads open, please give a short link. Many thanks.

Hi,

1/ Don't know what are the differencies between 9... an 1.7/1.8.....
2/ You can try the 1.8.1.7-2a firmware, it works very fine, has Samba integrated, and can be accessed from the internal with a telnet cliet like putty ....
3/ With the FWr mentionned above, you can connect your printer on LPT or USB as you want, using JetDirect port (aka RAW port 9101 for LPT and 9100 for USB)
Personnaly, I use LPT for my i865 and usb to share a drive and a usb memory stick via samba ....

I don't know for FWr 1.8.2.4, because I haven't test it yet ... but every time, Oleg do a really nice job ... !

also new to the WL500g and this Forum I can confirm, that connecting a Canon i560 to the USB-port works fine -except the "status-monitor" function - but printing ist fast and ok (newest firmware 1.8.2.4) :)

I've connected a simple (passive) USB-Hub (1.1) with a Card-Reader and a 64 MB SD-Card as a "mini-ftp-server" (for testing purposes only) and it works fine with the Canon i560 on the same hub.

Unfortunately :mad: the "Idle Disconnect" function doesn't work at all! I contacted ASUS - Support - but without any reaction. The problem seems well-known :rolleyes: .

admin page use search.. has been stated 1000 times
9.x.x.x is BETA as the name says, sometimes they use it for beta's.. dunno why

and how to connect? just plug the cable in with your hands?
