Hi,I wanted to know if it is possible to install windows xp on the Asus wl-700ge..
I know you guys are shaking your head already after reading this.. but LInux is totally new to me and I wanna be able to use something that is much more user friendly to what I know.. i.e. windows.

Please let me know if it is possible. Thanks.

Of course that's possible - only if you get an embedded Win XP. Then you will find that this embedded Win XP is as user unfriendly as you find Linux on the Asus. Also it's more money unfriendly, but it must be much more virus friendly.

I myself use Linux for about 5 years, find it very user friendly, but if I look in the stomach of the Asus I'm baffled... huuhhh, a COMMAND PROMPT!!!!
Ok, I know you have use / instead of \ in paths, and it is not ipconfig but ifconfig, but that is as far my knowledge goes.

So, alas, this Asus will not get any more user friendly as it is now, being there with telnet. But rejoice: you could learn something here that may be vital for years to come.

If you really like to have a NAS with Windows in it, get one with Windows Storage Server 2003 in it. I think Iomega has some.

I don't know much more of it, but at the outside it would look as userfriendly as the Asus you own now; that is, via http.
It is also easier to cooperate it with your windows pc. But it comes at a price. It is NOT open source, so no one like KCFurge can help you with a fix for it, you will have to rely on what MS has in its sleeve.

Just google around for NAS Windows, and you'll see

Good luck
