Hi all!!!

i tried 3 last firmwares for my WL 700ge. The best looking firmware and most frendly - 2.0.0.7

I couldn't make Download master work fine :(
the second problem is problem with user management - when i create the new user in 2.0.0.7 - i cant modify any user or share!

When i downgrade th 2.0.0.7 firmware to 1.0.7.6 i've got more problems :(

Now in 1.0.7.6fw when i use PSBA mode i just can create shares but cant delete or rename it(i think its problem with file access to __deleting or __renaming folders) :(

But when i use UBSA mode i've got blank page when try to access User Managment page(http://192.168.1.1/user_management/user_management.asp) :(

And when i try to create new share folder(http://192.168.1.1/file_access/create_new_share.asp) i've got same problem - blank page!

Does have any ides how to fix this problem?

ps:sorry for my english :(

do you have reseted the box?

otherwise you could install openwrt, format the hd and go back to asus firmware.

http://wl700g.homelinux.net/drupal/?q=node/24 --> and the second step.

go back to asus:

http://wl700g.homelinux.net/drupal/?q=node/54

i don't know any better solution.

I made that instruction: http://wl700g.homelinux.net/drupal/?q=node/54

* press the ezflash button (keep it pressed) and plug in the power

* If the ready light stops flashing let go of the ezflash button

* in a dosshell run "tftp -i 192.168.1.1 put WL700gE_1.0.4.2_flash.trx"

* wait a couple of seconds until the image is uploaded a message appears if it's succesful oploaded

* now wait half a minute before you yank out powersupply

* again wait 10/20 sec and put in the power

* the ready-light flashes one time and start Asus Firmware Restoration

* upload WL700gE_1.0.4.2.nas and wait until the device boots 1-2 min.

OK!!! i've made it, but now i have web interface without login :(
And i haven't telnet :(

What should i do next?

do you have installed openwrt and formated the hd? otherwise the users will be there (i think).

try to reset the box and install the nas file of the 1.0.4.2 with the firmware restoration tool (= unplug the router, wait 20 sec) plug in and press the ez button and lead it immediatley if it starts to blink (with ip 192.168.1.50 and 255.255.255.0 subnetmask).

I start to understand what am i doing :)

so! i install the openwrt fw from http://wl700g.homelinux.net/drupal/?q=node/24
Now i have the router with telnet access!

Ok! Now i should format the HDD(i don't know how), but what next?

I'll install the 1.0.4.2 FW... but can't login on it with web interface?!

format the hd with these instructions:

http://wl700g.homelinux.net/drupal/?q=node/25

then you plug out the router. wait 30 sec. and follow these instructions to install the 1.0.4.2 trx file:

http://wl700g.homelinux.net/drupal/?q=node/54 .

there is also written to install the nas file of 1.0.4.2 with firmware restoration (you have to do that).

So... what i've done...

1. Install OpenWRT FW from here: http://wl700g.homelinux.net/drupal/?q=node/24
2. format HDD from here: http://wl700g.homelinux.net/drupal/?q=node/25
i've done this steps:
2.1. do 'fdisk -l' to list the detected hard drives - note the name of the IDE drive device (When no drive is being showed try 'reboot')
2.2. do 'fdisk /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/disc'
2.3. issue the following commands to create a new ext3 partition WARNING - this will erase anything on your drive!
2.4. n, enter, p, enter, 1, enter, enter, enter, t, enter, 83, enter
2.5. pressing p and enter should show that you now have one partition on the disc of type linux
2.6. press w and enter to write the disk changes, then do 'fdisk -l' again to get the partition name
2.7.mke2fs -j /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part1

Then...
3. I gone back to asus FW: http://wl700g.homelinux.net/drupal/?q=node/54

And now i have the 1.0.4.2 FW router... i think so!
But i cant control it, couse i haven't any access to it!
No telnet, no ssh, no web(when i open the 192.168.1.1 page i've got the original ASUS screen with 4 images but there are no login\password filds to fill)!

But i have the ftp access.. when i open it i can see the shares folder! :) and nothing more :(

And... i stopped again :(

Help!!!

do you have reseted the router? --> press the reset button for 10 sec.

gratitude182 - big thank to you!!!!
realy!!!

After reset button - everything working... all but...
How i can rename Disk name to myvolume1 and make a share myshare1?

gratitude182
04-09-2007, 23:20
why? is the hd a interal hd a foreign share or could you connect to it?

cd MYVOLUME1 (hdname) and the share should be made automatically.

yes, i hade also this problem...

i have done then the steps again = openwrt installed, formated it again and reinstalled the 1.04.2. trx file and the 1.0.4.2 nas file... then it worked...

NOTES:
i think you have to wait (40-45 sec) after you installed the trx files (openwrt and the 1.0.4.2) during the router is off before you plug out the power.

after you have installed the 1.0.4.2 trx file again you could start the router and press the reset button for 10 sec. after that plug out and wait 20-30 sec and install the nas file with the firmware restoration tool...

i don't know why that is so but i have no other solution for you.

Hallo,

I'm new here.
Few months ago i bought also this WL700ge Router and thy worked really fine.
But since few days i can' modify shares and/or users

So i tried all this steps.

---------
1. Install OpenWRT FW from here: http://wl700g.homelinux.net/drupal/?q=node/24
2. format HDD from here: http://wl700g.homelinux.net/drupal/?q=node/25
i've done this steps:
2.1. do 'fdisk -l' to list the detected hard drives - note the name of the IDE drive device (When no drive is being showed try 'reboot')
2.2. do 'fdisk /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/disc'
2.3. issue the following commands to create a new ext3 partition WARNING - this will erase anything on your drive!
2.4. n, enter, p, enter, 1, enter, enter, enter, t, enter, 83, enter
2.5. pressing p and enter should show that you now have one partition on the disc of type linux
2.6. press w and enter to write the disk changes, then do 'fdisk -l' again to get the partition name
2.7.mke2fs -j /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part1

Then...
3. I gone back to asus FW: http://wl700g.homelinux.net/drupal/?q=node/54
--------------
All worked fine exept the last step 3.
I can transfere the "WL700gE_1.0.4.2_flash.trx" file to the WL700; than i do the reboot and so on.
And when i try to upload the "WL700gE_1.0.4.2.nas" file with the ASUS "Firmware Restoration" tool i get always this message in the DOS-Prompt:

-----------------
Attempting to download firmware to local subnet.
Use control-c to exit.

Remot machine BRCM_TEMP_NAS <at adress 192.168.1.1> has requested
a firmware download.
ERROR: Could not receive authorization message: 10054
Download aborted.

Preparing to exit...
----------------

Perhaps somebody can help me.
I'm really hopeless. :o

Thanks
Stefan
