I've been trying several of the latest oleg firmwares, my wan-port still dies during high traffic (I'm on 10/10mbit). The speed is auto-detected to 10mbit, but I've also tried locking it to 10mbit from the web interface.

Lately I've been trying both DD-wrt and openwrt on my unit, the wan port still dies after some intensive traffic.

Any tips on what I could do? This is really annoying and I like the Asus for its features, would be sad to change it to another "dumb" router for this.

I have the same problem with my WL500g (standard edition). Ever since I've moved to a high bandwidth (24mbit) connection the WAN connection dies after a period of heavy traffic.

I'm running Olegs WL500g-1.9.2.7-7g firmware.

This is a hw bug. Set speed to Auto to activate workarounds. Workarounds are NOT reliable anyway.

The better option is to buy WL500g Premium.

In the meantime wl500g/wl500b/wl300g/wl-hdd will not be supported by firmware at all.

Oleg,

Have the wl500gx got such kind of hw bug as well?
(When you write wl500g, is it as well wl500gx?)

Thanks
Olivier
